2022 Grade K/1 Spring Rec League

2022 Spring Recreational League (K/1)
 

Open to Newton residents and children attending a Newton Public School in Kindergarten* and Grade 1. Sorry, the program is not open to non-residents attending a private Newton school.

Please look for the separate registration programs for Grades 2/3, Grades 4/5, and Grades 6-8.

Six Saturdays: April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21, June 4, and June 11.
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 pm at Albemarle Field
The cost is $75 per child, no sibling discount.

The program will be split between super fun skill development drills/activities and game play.

*Please note: Your child must be listed as Grade "0" for Kindergarten, not "K".

League is open to all players who identify as female, non-binary, or questioning.

SCHEDULE:  Opening day is Sunday, April 24th.

   No games will be played over Memorial Day weekend, May 28th and 29th.

   Annual Family Gala TBA

   Final games will be played on Sunday, June 12th.

REGISTRATION POLICY*
Fee includes the cost of team uniform: shirt, pants, socks, and visor. First player is $160. Each additional sibling is $130. Register by 1/31/22 to avoid a late fee as $25 will be added to the registration fee from 2/1/22 on. Late fees are capped at $25 per family for the Rec season.

Placement is guaranteed for all registrations received by 2/28/22. Refunds for registered players must be requested by 2/28/22. Registrations received after 2/28/22 will be placed on a waiting list and placement is NOT guaranteed. Openings will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A full refund will be issued if a player is not placed on a team. 

League is open to all players who identify as female, non-binary, or questioning. 

 

"PAIR ME WITH" POLICY 
If two players would like to be placed on the same team they must list each other on their registration forms AND both forms must be received by 2/28/22. Changes to "Pair Me With" requests will be honored if sent via email by 2/28/22 to the Grade 2/3 coordinator at 
grade2-3coordinator@newtongirlssoftball.org.

ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES:In the 2/3 division, each team has one game a week (Sunday at 1:00) and one practice a week. Softball is a team sport and part of being a good team member is attendance. Therefore we expect players to attend at least 75% of their games and practices. If you are considering another spring activity that also requires your attendance on game days, please be fair to yourself and others by selecting only one activity. Thank you for your cooperation.

If your 7th or 8th grader makes a middle school team and that’s just too much softball for your family, you are eligible for a full refund through April 1st.  We are aware that there will be weekday conflicts between Rec and middle school programs and strongly encourage players to prioritize their school team’s events.

Session two dates: December 19th, January 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, February 6th, 20th

Class time: 5:00 - 6:00 pm

All pitchers must supply their own adult catcher

Fees: $200 to NGS and YMCA facility fee of $60 for YMCA members and $90 for non-members

Instructor Brandice Balschmiter

Brandice is a former member of Team USA Softball, and pitched at UMass Amherst. She is an instructor at Planet FastPitch.

Open to: Girls
