Clinic Instructors

Newton Girls Softball is blessed to have a tremendously accomplished group of coaches teaching our players on and off-season.  Our Panther coaches are available for individual and small group instruction, with the exception of players rostered on the team they are coaching.  Please contact the to be put in touch with coaches directly.

 

Brandice Balschmiter - Pitching

 

Brandice is a former member of Team USA Softball, and pitched at UMass Amherst.  She leads the Sunday night clinics at the West Suburban YMCA.  

 

Doug Clott - Pitching

Doug developed the Planet FastPitch @ the YMCA Pitching Clinics with Denise Davis (PFP owner) in 2005. Doug runs the New Beginner pitching program and assists Brandice in the Level 1 - 3 classes. He is a past president of Newton Girls Softball as well as a Rec League and Panther coach. 

 

Nikki Meuse - Pitching

The Hudson, Massachusetts, native began her coaching career at Planet Fastpitch after a successful four-year career inside the circle at Clark University. During her time with the Cougars, the right-handed pitcher directed the circle in 71 contests, 341.2 innings, 33 complete games and nine shutouts. Her impressive 35 victories came behind 251 strikeouts and 3.20 career ERA. All of these numbers are good enough to be scattered throughout Clark’s record books highlighted by her Ks (251) and strikeouts per seven innings (5.14) sitting fourth.

After graduating from Clark in June 2013 with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, Meuse has gone on to further her education at William James College, where she is working towards her Certification of Advanced Graduate Studies and Doctorate of Psychology in School Psychology. Throughout her coursework, Meuse has completed fieldwork and internships at various Boston Public Schools and Wellesley High School.

 

Michelle DeVito - Pitching, General Skills

 

Michelle pitched at Bentley College has extensive knowledge about proper swing mechanics, working to gain more speed/power in pitching motion, and plenty of drills to improve fielding.  Michelle has experience in hitting, fielding and pitching lessons.  She is a coach for the Panther 12U team.  

 

Rosey Neill - Catching, General Skills

 

PAC-10 Defensive Player of the Year at Stanford for 3 years and an amazing coach for catching, hitting and throwing instruction. Rosey has worked with our Panther catchers and 12U MiddleEssex team.  

 

Caroline Atkinson - Pitching, General Skills


 

Caroline has played over 10 years of softball through collegiate varsity at Roger Williams and is a coach of the 14U Panthers.
